Anasazi Museum in Boulder, Utah

I've put up a few photos of this marvelous museum in Boulder, Utah (part of a state park). Being reconstructed while we were visiting, we were able to visit the outdoor excavations of real Anasazi homes both in the ground pits covered with sticks, and later period raised dwellings with adobe mud block construction.

Directions: it is north of Boulder on Highway 12 in central Utah

• Travel file has a page of info (no pix) on museum:
• L-shaped pueblo: this plaque is in front of excavation of a covered dig. Parts of the walls have been reconstructed.
• another view of reconstructed pueblo walls of real dwelling
• here, the museum is sponsoring construction of a pueblo by volunteers, complete with roof so visitors can go inside when finished
• pit house, pre-dates the pueblos. These houses had thatch over the sticks. A fire in the center kept the occupants warm. This dwelling would be very hard to see from a distance in tall grass.
