Bryce Canyon Photo Tour

Bryce, in Southern Utah has spectacular eroded rock formations. Here are some photos I took on two visits:

forest on plateau at entrance level

• a dense pine forest with yellow flowers, manzanita, fire to west

overlook views

• deep canyon view, straight down and across to plateau
• chipmunk on railing, sitting upright; chipmunk running
• three sisters formation I think, spectacular spires
• 'reef' view across canyon of edge of plateau park is on
• canyon view: a split between two large spires, a trail winds thru the narrow gap
• view to end of plateau, farpoint station or farview point; 17 miles south from entrance, closed on my second visit for road reconstruction, it offers almost a full circle view of the wilderness

down in canyons

• start of hike down into canyon with pines growing in the red sandy soil
• natural rock bridge down in canyon between 2 spires about 20' from base
• pines down in canyon looking at base of spires, these look like bowling pins
• trail down canyon, looking at spires thru pines back up towards top

• Kodachrome Basin, also has eroded rock spires from mineral geysers, 10mi. east
• Zion National Park, about an hours drive southwest from Bryce
