Banana Tree, (acually an herbaceous plant). This one is flowering and bearing green bananas:
Because it dies after bearing bananas, the whole stalk is cut down to retrieve the bananas. Note mid sized plant (lower left) that will replace the main stalk when it dies, and smaller 'sucker' plants at base (not shown). Commercial banana varieties rarely have seed. I found seed in a dried banana found at a health food store.
