Four O'clocks line the outsite fence by the garden in the middle of summer

banana tree actually a tree sized herb, the banana flowers and dies but suckers at the base continue. Cultivated banana trees rarely have any seeds. I bought some fruit mix including dried bananas and one of them had seeds inside. The seeds are small, black and spherical with an indentation on one side.

Basil plant: this herb is popular in our garden, and good in pasta sauces

Bay Laurel: this sacred herb of the ancient Greeks is used to make Olympic wreaths for winners

Broccoli: President George Bush's favorite, this 'cruciferous' vegetable contains important compounds thought to prevent cancer, and lots of fiber, chlorophyll. Eat your veggies!

Brussels Sprouts: another cabbage family vegetable

Corn Plants: as high as an elephant's eye

Daylilies: probably grown as ornamentals, just about every part is edible. Saute blossoms 4 a treat.

Diatomaceous Earth: used to kill small insects by a physical means, it dehydrates them.

Giant Sunflowers: the seeds are in the huge flower head. Birds love them.

Leeks: these relatives of onions are great in stews

Leonotus: an ethnobotanical perenial shrub, common landscape plant for orange puffball flowers

Nasturtiums: this pretty flowering annual has a peppery watercress taste

Onions: grow your own for bad breath and staying real healthy

Pumpkin: make pumpkin pie or Haloween carvings

Romaine lettuce: grow your own salad

Swiss schard: this leafy vegetable looks like rhubarb

squash: a favorite at the garden are different types: yellow, Italian, butternut,..

Taro: this tropical 'Elephant's Ear' is grown Hawaii and other tropical areas for the starchy root

Tomatoes: probably the most popular vegy at the garden, they come in red, yellow, orange, green.
