Welcome to March Field Museum!
March Field Museum began as the dream of one man who, in 1979, realized that as a true "cradle" of U.S. military aviation since it's inception during World War I, March Air Force Base represented a precious legacy of aviation history. That man was Gen. James P. Mullins, then Commander of the Fifteenth Air Force. Gathering available historic aricraft and artifacts for public display, and with a couple of Air Force personnel assigned, the Museum was soon a going concern on base and was accepted officially into the Air Force museum system. In 1980, the March Field Museum Foundation was formed by a group of retired Air Force personnel and men and women from Riverside who shared General Mullins' vision. The non-profit Foundation has remained dedicated to providing support and resources for developing, expanding and improving the museum. |
